Mälardalen University (MDU), Sweden’s youngest university, invites applications for a fully funded PhD position in multiphase flow, fluid dynamics, and sustainable energy systems. The research focuses on developing new methods to study and model multiphase flows as key phenomena in energy and industrial processes. The work combines:
Fluid dynamics and heat transfer (theory and experiments),
Computational modeling, and
Machine learning / computer vision for data analysis and pattern recognition.
The goal is to improve the understanding and predictive capability of multiphase systems, with applications in sustainable energy technologies.
We are seeking applicants with:
MSc in Mechanical/Thermal Engineering, Energy Systems, or a related field,
Knowledge in fluid mechanics and heat transfer,
Programming skills (Python, MATLAB or equivalent),
Strong English communication skills.
Experience in multiphase flows, modeling, or AI methods (e.g. TensorFlow) is an advantage.
