What if the work you did every day could impact the lives of people you know? Or all of humanity? At Illumina, we are expanding access to genomic technology to realize health equity for billions of people around the world. Our efforts enable life-changing discoveries that are transforming human health through the early detection and diagnosis of diseases and new treatment options for patients. Working at Illumina means being part of something bigger than yourself. Every person, in every role, has the opportunity to make a difference. Surrounded by extraordinary people, inspiring leaders, and world changing projects, you will do more and become more than you ever thought possible.
As a Multiomics Field Application Scientist here at Illumina in Italy or Spain, you will play a central role in ensuring the success of our customers across Europe by enabling adoption and effective use of our rapidly growing Multiomics portfolio. You will collaborate closely with commercial teams, product development, technical support, and global partners to deliver expert consultation, workflow implementation, and training for new and emerging technologies. In this role, you will serve as a scientific authority during both pre-sales and post-sales engagements, supporting complex customer workflows while contributing to strategic product launches. You will join an award-winning customer support organization renowned for innovation, excellence, and industry-leading customer satisfaction.
Illumina's employee benefits are industry-leading and include flexible time off, private medical insurance, compassion and care time off, leisure travel insurance, pension, employee stock purchasing program, volunteer time off, and much more!
You are an experienced scientist with deep expertise in genomics, sequencing applications, and Illumina technologies, ideally complemented by strong knowledge of spatial transcriptomics or single-cell RNA-seq. You are fluent in English and either Spanish or Italian, and comfortable operating across diverse cultural and scientific environments. You bring hands-on experience with molecular biology, primary cells, tissue dissociation, cryostat workflows, or advanced imaging technologies, and you are confident advising on experimental design, sample preparation, and data interpretation.
Your communication skills are exceptional – whether presenting to customers, delivering training, or partnering cross-functionally – and you excel at conveying complex concepts with clarity. You thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments, demonstrate poise under pressure, and approach every interaction with a customer-first mindset. Alongside your technical strength, you are organized, self-driven, collaborative, and motivated to solve problems, remove barriers, and help customers achieve scientific success.
