Part-Time Lecturer For Dn1017 Media Art And Representation (Foundation 4d)

The School of Art, Design, and Media (ADM) at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, invites qualified candidates to apply as DN1017 Media Art and Representation. The Part-time Lecturer is expected to teach an undergraduate course in August 2025.

Media Art and Representation, a 13-week introductory course, will enhance students' understanding of media semiotics, expose them to a broader historical, social and cultural context, and contribute to further study in media representation. The course explores digital media's image and sound manipulation and representation and its role within a social context. Students will work with static and moving images as they explore how digital media can represent, alter, manipulate and mislead the meanings of imagery Students will expand their engagement with digital media as a form of artistic expression and communication and become familiar with how media affects image and sound, including time-based images, and how this phenomenon becomes a fundamental tool for all digital media creators. Techniques will range from simple emotive portrait framing to distortion of visual treatment to invoke an emotion that is not inherent in the original.

Successful candidates will have a Master's and PhD in Design/ Media, Computer Science, or a related field of study. Any past teaching experience at Undergraduate Level is preferred. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree in Design/ Media or Computer Science with sufficient and relevant industry experience may also be considered in exceptional cases.
