Ph.D. Opportunity in 2D Materials & Carbon Electronics (Start: October 2026) Part-time NEW
A fully funded Ph.D. position is available in the research group of Martin Rejhon at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University.
Dr. Rejhon is an early-career researcher with a strong publication record and international experience at New York University. He has recently been awarded the prestigious Junior Star 2024 grant (EUR 1 million over 5 years) from the Czech Science Foundation (GACR), recognizing his exceptional scientific potential.
Research Topic
Selective growth of epitaxial graphene – toward carbon electronics
The project focuses on advancing tunable electronic and optoelectronic devices based on epitaxial graphene with tailored stacking orders. The work will contribute to next-generation carbon-based electronic platforms.
Start date: October 2026
Requirements:
- Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Physics or a related field obtained within the last 2 years
(Candidates expecting to defend before October 2026 are welcome to apply.) - Good command of English
- Ability to work effectively in a team
- Mandatory: Experience with AFM
- Advantage: Experience with Raman spectroscopy and nanolithography
- Advantage: Scientific computing/programming skills (Python, Matlab, etc.)
- Strong motivation to learn and develop new expertise
We offer:
- 4-year Ph.D. program at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University
- Faculty scholarship approx. 15,000 CZK/month (tax-exempt; subject to admission procedure)
- 0.5 FTE employment at approx. 18,000 CZK/month (tax-deductible), including full health insurance
