The Section for Biomolecular Sciences at the Department of Biology, University of Copenhagen invites applicants for a PhD fellowship in molecular cell biology of disease-linked gene variants.
Start date is expected to be August 1st, 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter.
The project is focused on understanding how genetic variation shapes protein function and contributes to disease mechanisms and will involve Deep Mutational Scanning (DMS) along with CRISPR-based genome engineering to systematically assess the function and stability of thousands of gene variants to generate exhaustive quantitative functional landscapes of disease-associated proteins.
We are looking for candidates within the fields of molecular cell biology. Applicants can have a background from Biochemistry or Molecular Biomedicine preferably experienced with basic molecular biological techniques, DMS, FACS and NGS in human cell lines. Prior knowledge of the protein quality control system and human genetics is an advantage.
Our lab provides a collaborative environment with opportunities for both wet-lab and computational training, and access to cutting-edge genome engineering and screening platforms. The group is a part of the Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, University of Copenhagen. We are located in Copenhagen.
Principal supervisor is Professor Rasmus Hartmann-Petersen, Department of Biology, E-mail: rhpetersen@bio.ku.dk, Direct Phone: +45 26941565.
