The Centre for Landscape Regeneration (CLR) has an exciting opportunity to lead and deliver our strategic approach to policy impact and to promote the integration of research, insights and expertise into policymaking and advocacy. The role holder will focus on identifying, coordinating and developing opportunities for CLR research to impact policy. You will work in partnership with the CLR researchers to build a bridge between academia and key policy stakeholders through events, activities and policy briefings, and also supporting academics to deliver policy engagement through consultations and other activities.
The CLR is an ambitious programme of research that aims to provide the knowledge and tools needed to regenerate the British countryside using cost-effective nature-based solutions that harness the power of ecosystems to provide broad societal benefits including biodiversity recovery and climate mitigation and adaptation. The focal landscapes for the CLR are the Cambridgeshire Fens, the Cairngorms and the Cumbrian Lake District. The CLR is a five-year programme from UKRI NERC and is now in the later stages of the project. This is an exciting time to join the CLR, as our research insights are being generated and our impacts on policy are being realised.
The CLR Co-Directors are Professors David Coomes, Dept of Plant Sciences and Emily Shuckburgh, Dept of Computer Science and also Chief Scientific Advisor to the Dept of Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ). The Centre started work in 2022 and has had over 70 people involved in the research to date, including Professors, PDRAs, students and professional service staff, including some based at our four external partners: UK Centre for Ecology and Hydrology (UKCEH), RSPB, NIAB, and the Endangered Landscapes and Seascapes Programme (ELSP).
The role holder will be a key part of the CLR Programme Team managing the operations of the CLR, working closely with the Co-Directors and Executive Board, Research Leads and researchers to implement and manage the programme's activities to deliver the overall policy strategy, impact and policy influence.
Do you have experience of working across interdisciplinary environment issues and topics and: – Research translation and impact – Public policy research analysis – Policy stakeholder engagement?
In this role you will organise, manage and deliver new policy relevant activities and events for the Centre for Landscape Regeneration (CLR), building on existing activities. The role holder will work across public policy at a local, national and, potentially, international level.
