We invite applicants for a postdoctoral fellowship in Computational Active Matter and Biophysics.
The start date is (expected to be) 1 September 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is for a two-year period.
The project will develop computational and theoretical models of active and living matter systems, with applications across active-matter physics and biological tissues. Depending on background and interest, the postdoc may work on problems involving active flows, topological defects, geometry-dependent dynamics, or large-scale numerical simulations of physical or biological systems.
We are looking for candidates with strong skills in numerical simulation and scientific computing, including experience with PDE or dynamical-systems models, mesh-based or geometry-aware computation, or quantitative analysis of spatiotemporal data. Backgrounds in physics, biophysics, applied mathematics, or related quantitative fields are welcome. Prior expertise in any specific application domain is not required.
The position is funded for two years, with the possibility of extension for a third year. Further information on the Department is linked at https://www.science.ku.dk/english/about-the-faculty/organisation/ . Inquiries about the position can be made to Professor Farzan Vafa (Farzan.vafa@nbi.ku.dk).
The University wishes our staff to reflect the diversity of society and thus welcomes applications from all qualified candidates regardless of personal background.
