Postdoc in Mechanical Metamaterials

We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher in mechanical metamaterials, with a focus on the characterization and design of material properties. The work includes modeling, numerical analysis, and experimental validation of architected materials and structures with tailored acoustic, vibrational, and mechanical properties.

The main application area is sound and vibration control, including wave manipulation, attenuation, isolation, and frequency-selective behavior. Depending on the candidate's profile and the development of the project, the research may also include coupled multiphysics problems and AI-driven inverse design.

The position includes conducting independent research, publishing in international scientific journals, contributing to project development, and collaborating with researchers and students in the group.

Qualifications

Requirements

• A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made.
• Documented research expertise and ability to publish in international scientific journals.
• Strong background in one or more of the following areas: solid mechanics, wave propagation, acoustics, vibration, computational mechanics, multiphysics modeling, or solid-fluid interface analysis.
• Strong programming skills in Python or MATLAB and experience with commercial finite element software such as COMSOL or Abaqus.
• Very good communication skills in English, both written and spoken, since the research environment, scientific publishing and collaboration are international.

Preferred qualifications

• A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline
• Experience with advanced numerical methods and computational approaches for physics-based design and control of material systems.
• Experience in experimental and computational mechanics, vibroacoustics, or multiphysics modeling.
• A creative and broadly curious approach to research.
