Development and evaluation of process concepts in the field of liquid organic hydrogen carriers (LOHC)

Development of steady-state and dynamic process and reactor models for the simulation of multiphase reactions

Assessment of different process configurations and application scenarios, including techno-economic evaluation

Investigation of process intensification opportunities through optimized reactor design and efficient heat integration

Collaboration with the department experimental technology testing for the implementation of processes at laboratory, miniplant, pilot, and demonstration scale

Scientific supervision and mentoring of students and PhD candidates

Analysis and presentation of results at scientific conferences and in peer-reviewed journals

Preparation of third-party funded research proposals

Your Profile

Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Control Engineering/Cybernetics, Physics, or a related field, followed by a PhD or relevant industrial experience

Solid knowledge of thermal process engineering, reaction engineering, thermodynamics, process engineering, and industrial chemistry

Proven expertise in modeling and simulation, demonstrated through a PhD, postdoctoral research, or industrial experience

Experience in the modeling of multiphase systems is desirable

Experience with flowsheet process simulators (e.g., Aspen, UniSim, HYSYS, gPROMS, Aveva) and modeling languages (e.g., Python, Julia, Matlab)

Strong interest in process modeling and simulation, including novel methods and approaches such as neural networks and nonlinear optimization

Ability to analyze complex systems and work in a structured and methodical manner

Very good command of written and spoken English

Independent, self-motivated working style combined with excellent teamwork skills

High willingness to take responsibility and to develop and pursue own research ideas

FAIR REMUNERATION: Depending on your existing qualifications and the tasks assigned to you, you will be classified in pay grade 13 of the TVöD-Bund (Collective Agreement for the Public Service). VACATION: You will receive 30 days of vacation plus additional days off (e.g. between Christmas and New Year’s)
