The Postdoctoral Fellow will work with Dr Charlie Crimston within the School of Medicine and Psychology on the ARC Discovery Project “The moral circle: Identifying the competing social and psychological forces that shape moral inclusion.” The project investigates the social and psychological processes that shape moral inclusion and exclusion, including how individuals extend or restrict moral concern across social and non-human entities.
The successful candidate will undertake independent research aligned with the aims of the Discovery Project, including designing and conducting studies, applying advanced statistical methods, publishing in high-impact peer-reviewed journals, and presenting findings at national and international conferences. The role will involve collaboration with Professor Jolanda Jetten (University of Queensland) and other national and international researchers. The Postdoctoral Fellow will also contribute to competitive grant development, assist with student supervision, and engage in teaching and service activities as appropriate.
We are seeking an outstanding early career researcher with a PhD in social psychology (or a closely related discipline) and a strong research track record. The successful candidate will demonstrate evidence of high-quality publications in peer-reviewed journals and experience using advanced quantitative research methods.
The ideal candidate will have expertise in experimental and survey research design, advanced statistical analysis (e.g., multi-level modelling, mediation/moderation analysis, longitudinal or large-scale quantitative approaches), and the capacity to articulate and pursue innovative research questions. A demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively, contribute to grant development, supervise students, and meet project deadlines is essential. Strong written and oral communication skills and a commitment to collegial, inclusive academic practice are required.
