A postdoctoral fellow position is available for a highly motivated and independent scientist to join the laboratory of Baris Bingol in the Department of Neuroscience at Genentech. The Bingol lab investigates the molecular mechanisms of neurodegeneration, with a particular focus on neuronal and glial proteostasis. This position will center on elucidating the molecular mechanisms of lysosomal and mitochondrial quality control in the context of neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer's Disease, Parkinson's Disease, and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.
This fellowship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to target discovery efforts and to perform mechanistic studies to understand how human genetic variants disrupt organelle and protein quality control pathways. Candidates with a strong track record in mechanistic molecular and cellular neurobiology research are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will leverage cutting-edge technologies—including proteomics, lipidomics, next-generation sequencing, CRISPR, iPSC-derived and primary culture models, in vivo systems, and AI/ML-supported computational biology—to uncover fundamental disease mechanisms.
