The Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences (NDCN), University of Oxford, is seeking a Postdoctoral Neuroscientist to join the Sharott Group at the Brain Network Dynamics Unit (BNDU) and the MRC Centre of Excellence in Restorative Neural Dynamics. This post is funded by the Medical Research Council and forms part of an ambitious research programme focused on the preclinical development of closed-loop brain stimulation approaches to enhance memory, with a view to developing novel therapies for disorders such as Alzheimer's disease. The post holder will design, execute and analyse state-of-the-art close-loop stimulation experiments in awake rodent models, with a strong emphasis on understanding and restoring circuit dynamics in memory circuits.
You will work closely with the Principal Investigator to deliver this focused research programme, contribute to the development of novel closed-loop stimulation devices, and publish high-quality research in leading international journals. You will collaborate with internal and external partners, and contribute to grant applications and research strategy. Applicants will hold a PhD (or MD) in a relevant discipline, with advanced expertise in rodent electrophysiology in cognitive or motor behavioural paradigms and subsequent data analysis. Experience in memory and/or brain stimulation research is desirable.
This full-time, fixed-term post is available immediately and is based in Oxford. We welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds who are committed to excellence, collaboration and research integrity. Based on Mansfield Road, Oxford, this post offers access to the outstanding research environment of the University of Oxford.
