Postdoctoral Position in Representation Theory

The Department of Mathematics conducts research and provides education at undergraduate to graduate level in mathematics, applied mathematics and statistics. The Department has three research programmes: analysis and probability, algebra and geometry, applied mathematics and statistics. The representation theory group is part of the algebra and geometry programme and consists of 4 permanent members and 5 PhD students.

Duties: Conduct research in representation theory in connection with Hecke categories.

Requirements: PhD degree in mathematics or a foreign degree equivalent to a PhD degree in mathematics. The degree needs to be obtained by the time of the decision of employment. Priority will be given to applicants who have completed their degree no more than three years before the deadline for applications. Due to special circumstances, the degree may have been obtained earlier. The three-year period can be extended due to circumstances such as sick leave, parental leave, duties in labour unions, etc. Documented ability for research in representation theory and related areas. Relevant topics include Soergel bimodules, Kazhdan-Lusztig theory, Coxeter combinatorics, and diagrammatic categories. Proficiency in spoken and written English.

About the employment: The employment is a temporary position of 2 years according to central collective agreement. Full time position. Starting date 2026-09-01 or as agreed. Placement: Uppsala.
