The Mosher lab is searching for a postdoctoral research associate to lead a project visualizing small RNAs during seed development. Plants produce abundant siRNAs from a small number of loci during reproduction. These siRNAs are produced in parental somatic cells and influence development of fertilized tissues, however the precise location of their expression and action are unknown. This project aims to understand the spatiotemporal expression of these siRNAs at the cellular level through imaging approaches.
The selected candidate must have proficiency with fluorescent in situ hybridization of plant samples. Successful applicants will also have a PhD in the life sciences and a record of research productivity. Good communication skills, organization, and record-keeping are also essential. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently to move a project forward while operating in a collaborative research environment. It is also expected that this project will be a launchpad for additional research questions and Prof. Mosher will support the development of a future independent research program.
