We are seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Scientist to join Prof Huiling Tan's research group at the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences, University of Oxford. The research program is funded by the MRC, and aims to: 1.) investigate how abnormal electrophysiological brain activities contributes to gait difficulties and sleep disorders in Parkinson's disease; 2.) use invasive and non-invasive brain stimulation to probe the causal relationship between neural network dynamics and behaviour; 3) leverage these insights to pioneer closed-loop approaches to therapeutic brain stimulation for better treatment of gait difficulties and sleep disorders in Parkinson's disease. Therefore, this position offers the opportunity to contribute to a rapidly advancing field at the forefront of a therapeutic revolution—one that seeks to interact with neural dynamics in real time to restore or ameliorate dysfunctional brain activity.
The Tan Group is a leading contributor to this emerging area, benefiting from close collaboration with researchers in basic and computational neuroscience, as well as biomedical engineering. We are part of the Brain Network Dynamics Unit and the MRC Center of Research Excellence in Restorative Neural Dynamics. The group also works closely with neurologists, neurosurgeons, and patients undergoing Deep Brain Stimulation, providing a highly translational and collaborative research environment.
This is a fixed-term post of 3 years, with an initial probationary period, to start on or after 1st July 2026. This post is a University Grade 07 position with a starting salary £39,424 – £47,779 per annum. Only applications received before midday 12:00 on Friday 8th May 2026 will be considered. Interviews will be held as soon as possible thereafter.
