NDM Experimental Medicine, John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford
We are offering three opportunities for Postdoctoral Researchers to join a new Oxford–AbbVie Immunology collaborative programme at the interface of academia and industry. These posts provide the opportunity to work with leaders in innate and adaptive immunity within a strategically important partnership designed to accelerate translational research and therapeutic development in immune-mediated inflammatory disease. The successful postholders will join the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences at the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology, Old Road Campus, Headington, Oxford or the Nuffield Department of Medicine, Experimental Medicine Division at John Radcliffe Hospital, Headington, Oxford.
Funded by AbbVie Immunology and hosted within Oxford research laboratories, the three projects will investigate critical cellular interactions driving immune-mediated inflammatory disease. Specifically, the programme will explore:
As a Postdoctoral Researcher, you will design and deliver hypothesis-led experimental research using advanced immunological and molecular techniques, including complex human tissue assays and high-dimensional profiling approaches. You will manage your own research activities, contribute to collaborative objectives across the Oxford–AbbVie partnership, analyse and interpret complex datasets, and present and publish findings. You will work closely with Oxford Principal Investigators and AbbVie scientists in the UK and US, ensuring outputs are rigorous, reproducible, and positioned to inform translational and drug discovery programmes.
You will hold a PhD/DPhil (or be close to completion) in immunology or a related discipline, with strong laboratory experience in cellular and molecular immunology. You will demonstrate the ability to design and manage independent research, analyse and publish complex biological data, and work effectively within a collaborative team environment. An interest in translational science and drug discovery is essential. Relevant specialist expertise aligned to one of the three projects, experience with advanced tissue models or sequencing technologies, and prior industry collaboration experience would be advantageous.
Applications for this vacancy must be made online. You will be required to upload a CV and supporting statement as part of your application. Your supporting statement must specify which project you are applying for and explain how you meet each of the selection criteria, using examples of your skills and experience. Please restrict your documentation to your CV and supporting statement only; any additional documents will be requested at a later stage.
This position is offered full-time on a fixed-term contract until 28 February 2029, with the potential for extension and is funded by AbbVie.
Only applications received before 12 midday on Wednesday 22 April 2026 will be considered. Please quote 185836 on all correspondence.
