The Department has a substantial research programme, with major funding from Medical Research Council (MRC), Wellcome Trust and National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and provides highly rated medical training in psychiatry. The Head of Department is Professor Belinda Lennox.
We are looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher to join the Mental Health and Equitable Access to Healthcare theme of the NIHR HealthTech Research Centre (HRC) –Community Healthcare.

The post is available on a flexible hybrid basis. The minimum on-site time is 3 days/week for a full-time post.
The post is full-time although consideration will be given to candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 60% FTE). The post is funded for 2 years and is based in the Department of Psychiatry at the Warneford Hospital.
Reporting to Belinda Lennox and Apostolos Tsiachristas you will be responsible for carrying out a portfolio of applied health research projects as part of the Mental Health and Equitable Access to Healthcare theme. These projects investigate the use of novel technologies in mental health and community settings, in collaboration with the wide range methodologists working in the HRC and strong patient and public involvement.
You will manage your own academic research and administrative activities. This involves small scale project management, to co-ordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines. You will contribute ideas for new research projects, develop ideas for generating research income and present detailed research proposals to senior researchers. You will also provide guidance to junior members of the research group including research assistants, PhD students, and/or project volunteers.
You will have or be close to the completion of a relevant PhD/DPhil, in applied health research / mental health research together with relevant experience. You will possess sufficient specialist knowledge in mental health and experience of NHS mental health/community health services. Along with the ability to manage own academic research and associated activities, you will also have previous experience of contributing to publications/presentations. The ability to contribute ideas for new research projects and research income generation is essential.
Experience in analysing mental health data (survey or patient records) and of independently managing a discrete area of a research project would be desirable.
