The studies will focus on understanding the immune response to Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection, to identify diagnostic biomarkers or therapeutic targets and to identify changes in the mycobacteria associated with treatment outcomes. The work is focused on bioinformatic analysis.
The postdoctoral researcher will oversee and guide bioinformatic analysis of host-response data and of mycobacterial sequencing data. The project will include analysis and visualization of large datasets and the potential integration of different types of data. The postdoctoral researcher will be involved in all parts of the projects, ranging from generating research hypotheses, planning, data analysis, supervision of students, statistical analysis, and writing scientific publications and grant applications.
The candidate must hold a PhD equivalent to a Swedish doctoral degree in the field of microbiology, biology, or biomedicine. The applicant should have prior experience of research with M. tuberculosis. A strong expertise with bioinformatics analysis is required.
The candidate is expected to be organized and able to work independently. The project is pursued in an interdisciplinary environment with collaboration with several international research groups, and good collaborative skills are a requirement. A strong publication record and having received previous grants is advantageous. Fluency in English is mandatory.
To be eligible for employment as a postdoctoral researcher, a PhD or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a Swedish PhD is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. Completion of your doctoral degree within the last three years is considered an advantage. If there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.
