The Department of Economics is one of the largest departments within the Faculty of Social Sciences with approximately 100 employees from a dozen countries. Each year about 1,000 students participate in undergraduate (BA), graduate (MA) and PhD level courses. The research conducted at the department is mainly focused on labour economics, macroeconomics, political economics and public economics. Researchers at the department are frequently engaged as experts by the government and by the media, and interact with the society at large in a number of ways.

Duties

We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher for a fixed-term position of 24 months in a research project at the Department of Economics, which will study the Swedish wage-setting model during the 20th century. As a postdoc, you will conduct independent research as well as collaborate with other researchers in the project. The position also includes teaching duties up to 20 percent.

Requirements

A doctoral degree in Economics, Economic History, or a foreign degree considered equivalent to a doctoral degree in Economics or Economic History. The degree needs to be obtained by the time of the decision of employment. Those who have obtained a PhD degree three years prior to the application deadline are prioritized for the employment. The starting point of the three-year frame period is the application deadline. Due to special circumstances, the degree may have been obtained earlier. The three-year period can be extended due to circumstances such as sick leave, parental leave, duties in labour unions, etc. Proficiency in spoken and written English is a requirement.

Additional Qualifications

We particularly welcome applicants with a background in Economic History, experience working with large datasets using modern econometric methods, and skills in organizing and digitizing archival material using OCR, machine learning, or AI tools. Knowledge of, or research related to, the Swedish model, wage formation, or labor–employer relations during the 20th century is considered especially meritorious.
