The Department of Global Public Health is a multidisciplinary department with the aim to advance knowledge about challenges and opportunities for public health in a local, national, and global setting. Many researchers at the department are scientific advisors to authorities and other decision makers at regional, national, and international levels. The department is responsible for three international master's programs and the researchers are actively involved in teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level. The department has 12 research groups, around 120 PhD students and about 140 employees.
The Global and Sexual Health Research Group (GLoSH) is dedicated to furthering knowledge of global health development and sexual reproductive health and rights (SRHR). Our research focuses on HIV, preventative behaviours, emerging infections, non-communicable diseases, migrant health, health economics, eHealth and is also home to Hans Rosling's Gapminder project. The group consists of interdisciplinary researchers with experience in study design and project implementation in weak health systems. The current position will be based in Anna Kågesten's team which focuses on global adolescent health, gender equality, SRHR, violence and interventions.
The successful candidate will work on various projects related to adolescent health and wellbeing, in both Sweden and low- and middle-income settings. An important part of the role is to contribute to developing new research ideas within this area and to apply for funding. The candidate will also work on strategic development of the area of adolescent health and wellbeing at the Department in collaborations within colleagues from different research groups. The candidate is expected to actively engage within the department and contribute, for example through doctoral supervision, teaching, attending and organizing seminar sessions or taking on administrative roles. The candidate will be encouraged to work independently and be supported to submit their own grant applications.
This is a full-time position for 2 years with possibility of extension.
To be eligible for employment as a postdoctoral researcher, a PhD or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a Swedish PhD is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. Completion of your doctoral degree within the last three years is considered an advantage. If there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.
