The Faculty of Social Sciences is looking for a postdoctoral researcher to work in the “Sex Differences in Immunity (SEXDIM)” project. The project aims to provide insight into how changing fertility patterns and environmental factors relate to immunity in populations, particularly in women's health. The principal investigator (PI) of the project is Dr Elina Einiö. This position is part of the interdisciplinary consortium at the University of Helsinki, Sex Differences in Immunity, led by Dr Piret Avila, which brings together researchers across demography, statistics, evolutionary biology, immunology, and genomics to bridge evolutionary and mechanistic explanations of sex differences in immunity. The project is associated with the Helsinki Institute for Demography and Population Health and the Max Planck – University of Helsinki Center on Social Inequalities in Population Health. The main task of the appointed researcher is – jointly with the research team – to design and conduct quantitative research, mostly on longitudinal register-based data on autoimmune diseases. Additionally, the researcher is expected to actively contribute to teaching in the master's program in social sciences, or thesis supervision and other research activities of the Institute.
QUALIFICATIONS The appointee to the position must hold a doctoral degree in demography, sociology, health sciences, data sciences, statistics, economics, or other relevant field, have strong quantitative methods skills and an excellent command of written English.
