Principal Scientist, Data Rich Experimentation

Join our Data-Rich Experimentation team in the context of Process Chemistry as a Principal Scientist and you will be responsible for the design and development of commercial manufacturing processes for drug substances under clinical development. Under the direction of the head of data-rich experimentation, the main responsibilities of this role are to apply high-throughput technologies, automation platforms, and data science/artificial intelligence to support the evaluation and development activities of multi-step routes, with the aim of establishing commercial drug substance manufacturing processes through the management and execution of internal and outsourced laboratory activities.

Principal Responsibilities:

• Use high-throughput experimentation as a tool to elucidate chemical reactivity and evaluation of synthetic routes
• Develop and manage automation workflows to accelerate the discovery and optimization of reactions
• Utilize all imaginable chemistry tools and methods to develop new synthetic routes (photochemistry, biochemistry, flow chemistry, electrochemistry, online analysis, structural analysis (NMR, UPLC/MS))
• Help design, plan, and execute multi-step experimental studies guided by risk assessment to provide safe, efficient, robust, and scalable drug substance manufacturing processes
• Collaborate within project teams by working closely with analytical chemists, process engineers, pilot plant experts, and project managers within the CMC Synthetics organization
• Communicate scientific results clearly, concisely, and accurately using electronic lab notebooks, development reports, discussions, and project presentations

About You

Skills you must possess:

• Experience: 3+ years of work in a CMC organization
• Know-how: Experience with high-throughput experimentation, chemocatalysis, or biocatalysis, including the characterization of catalytic processes and/or mechanistic analysis
• Education: Doctorate in organic or synthetic chemistry
• Languages: French, English

• Know-how: Familiarity with automated laboratory equipment (e.g., Chemspeed, Mettler)

• Experience: Solid publication record in peer-reviewed journals
• Know-how: Excellent written and verbal communication skills
