Project Officer Opportunity at the School of Biological Sciences

The School of Biological Sciences (SBS), part of the College of Science at Nanyang Technological University, was established in 2002 with a mission to advance excellence in biological and biomedical sciences. Our research spans diverse and impactful areas including infectious diseases, immunology, neurodegenerative disorders, telomere biology, and genome function. The laboratory of Yansong Miao invites applications for a Project Officer to support research in plant agrotechnology.

The successful candidate will contribute to the discovery of plant resistance genes using effectoromics approaches in plant–microbe interactions. This role integrates experimental biology with computational and AI-driven methods to analyze multi-omics datasets and uncover mechanisms of plant immunity. We are seeking a highly motivated and interdisciplinary researcher with strengths in plant biology and computational analysis, who is comfortable working at the interface of biology and data science.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and conduct experiments to identify and characterize plant resistance genes using effectoromics approaches
• Develop and apply computational and AI models to analyze multi-omics and imaging datasets
• Integrate experimental and computational results to generate testable hypotheses in plant-microbe interactions
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to validate candidate genes and mechanisms through functional assays

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Plant Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related field
• At least 1 year of relevant research or technical experience
• Familiarity with required scope (e.g. national codes and standards)
• Competence in computation and coding
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic research environment
