Quantum biology unlocks a fundamentally new way to actuate on biology. The Quantum Biology Institute is a non-profit that conducts basic research, releasing all of it openly to help build the foundation of the field. Following our publicly available scientific roadmap, we seek to unambiguously refute or establish the existence of a quantum-to-biology link.
The Quantum Biology Institute is seeking an accomplished physicist to lead our quantum instrumentation program. Our research explores how magnetosensitivity in biology, a putative quantum effect akin to a simple modality of quantum sensing with electron spins, can be (quantum-)controlled for biological function advantage.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain advanced optical and electronic quantum instrumentation that is gentle enough to probe biological compounds and cells
- Develop and implement experimental control software
- Collaborate with quantum physicists, engineers, biologists, and chemists to apply quantum measurement and control techniques to cellular systems
Required Expertise
- Quantum optics and optical instrumentation development
- Instrument control programming in Python
- Research experience in atomic and molecular physics, quantum computing, or quantum sensing
This role is on-site at the Institute’s lab in Los Angeles, USA.
