Research Assistant

As a Research Assistant at the University of Melbourne's Mueller laboratory, you'll dive into the fascinating world of cancer metastasis, focusing on stromal cell responses and immune cell functions. You'll gain hands-on experience with multi-parameter confocal microscopy, spectral flow cytometry, and orthotopic cancer models, all while contributing to significant scientific advancements. This role offers a collaborative environment where you can further your expertise and make meaningful contributions to cancer research.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Conducting and analysing experiments: Plan and execute experiments, analyse data, and maintain detailed records to further research objectives.
• Collaborating and communicating: Work with team members to present findings and contribute to publications and lab meetings.
• Maintaining laboratory operations: Support administrative tasks, manage reagent inventories, and ensure laboratory cleanliness and safety.
• Mentoring and supporting: Provide guidance and training to students, fostering a collaborative and educational environment.

You may be a great fit if:

You are a passionate researcher with a background in immunology, possessing strong organisational skills and a collaborative spirit to drive innovative cancer research.

You may also:

• Have a BSc (Honours) or Masters degree in Immunology or a related discipline.
• Possess expertise in confocal imaging, immunohistochemistry, and cryo-sectioning.
• Be experienced in flow cytometry, mammalian cell culture, and molecular biology techniques.
• Have experience or an interest in stromal and T-cell imaging and advanced image analysis tools.
• Have excellent communication skills and a proven track record in presenting research findings.
• Be adept at managing laboratory operations and maintaining detailed records.
