About the role:
The lab of Prof Elena Seiradake requires a Research Assistant to provide research, technical and administrative support to ensure the smooth running of the laboratories. This post will be responsible for supporting specific research projects, managing the scientific process and maintaining quality control, as well as processing samples and monitoring results. Maintenance of a database is expected in order to run reports and interpret results and writing up experimental results to contribute to publications. Contributing to maintaining equipment, cleanliness and upkeep of the lab space is also expected.
About you:
You will hold or be near completion of a bachelor's degree or equivalent in Molecular Biology or a closely related field. You will have extensive experience using molecular biology techniques including molecular cloning, and experience in growing and maintaining human cell lines using sterile culture conditions. Experience in isolating and studying murine brain tissue using confocal microscopy, and extensive experience in growing and studying murine primary dissociated neuronal cultures is desirable, along with working with human blood samples and studying specific human blood cell populations.
