We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Assistant to support research activities within a new collaboration between the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology and Daiichi Sankyo, Japan. You will contribute to the delivery of experimental work and the sharing of methods and findings with project collaborators.
You will assist in setting up and optimising a range of assays alongside a visiting member of the Daiichi Sankyo team to support the development of this collaboration. You will also contribute to laboratory-based research investigating the properties of novel and existing small molecules using human iPSC-derived microglia, with potential progression to more complex co-culture systems including neurons and astrocytes, as appropriate.
The role is available immediately and funded by Daiichi Sankyo for 6 months in the first instance.

You will hold an MSc in neuroscience or a related discipline such as biochemistry or cell biology, and have experience of using microglia in culture and modern cellular and molecular techniques to investigate cell function. You will have a strong cell culture, communication, and time management skills, alongside experience of working collaboratively within academic or industrial research environments.
Starting salary offered in the range £39,148 – £41,833 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
