Join our pioneering AI designed cyclic peptide engine project at Karolinska Institutet and SciLifeLab, where we are revolutionizing drug discovery by integrating artificial intelligence with synthetic biology to target “undruggable” proteins. The project is a collaboration between the national SciLifeLab Drug Discovery & Development platform and the research group led by Assoc. Prof. Mikael Altun. This is a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of team science within a national research infrastructure dedicated to advancing the future of life sciences.
As a researcher assistant, you will play a vital role in building a next-generation discovery engine for intracellular cyclic peptide therapeutics. The experimental work includes designing fusion proteins with various tags, producing viruses, transfecting human cells, and studying how these cell models are affected by small molecules and intracellularly produced peptides.
We believe you are a M.Sc. level cell and molecular biologist with proven laboratory proficiency. The work involves cell culture, reporter assays (luminescence and fluorescence) in plate format, Western blots, as well as basic protein‑detection techniques. We expect you to be independent, well‑organized, and accustomed to planning and reporting their own work.
A creative and inspiring environment with wide-ranging expertise and interests. Karolinska Institutet is one of the world's leading medical universities. Our vision is to pursue the development of knowledge about life and to promote a better health for all. At Karolinska Institutet, we conduct successful medical research and hold the largest range of medical education in Sweden. Karolinska Institutet is also a state university, which entitles you to several good benefits through our collective agreement. And you get to practice freely in our modern wellness facilities, where trained staff are on site.
Location: The primary location will be at the KI Flemingsberg campus, but since the project is a collaboration with the SciLifeLab DDD platform some parts of the project will also be performed in Solna.
The application is to be submitted through the Varbi recruitment system. In this recruitment, you will apply with your CV without a personal letter. Instead, you will answer some questions about why you are applying for the job in the application form.
