Research Assistant in Immunology and Cancer Biology

The Department of Medical Biochemistry and Microbiology (IMBIM) at Uppsala University provides a broad international environment for research and teaching. Research at IMBIM broadly spans the areas of biochemistry, cell and molecular biology, tumour biology, comparative genetics, functional genomics, immunology, bacteriology, and virology. The research is essentially of fundamental nature, but with relevance and application in health and disease in both animals and humans.

Project description

We are looking for a high motivated candidate to support ongoing research projects involving human tissue samples and molecular and imaging-based analyses.

Duties

Tasks may include handling and processing of tissue samples. Immunofluorescence staining and microscopy-related work. PCR and qPCR. Image analysis, including cell segmentation and quantification. General laboratory maintenance and documentation.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a relevant life science discipline. A Master's degree is considered an advantage. The following experience is considered highly advantageous:

• Image analysis using QuPath and/or Fiji/ImageJ
• Immunofluorescence (IF)
• PCR and qPCR
• Experience working with tissue samples (e.g. FFPE or cryosections)
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English

Great importance will be attached to personal suitability such as being careful, structured, and a reliable person who can work both independently and as part of a team. Good communication skills and attention to detail are important.

About the position

The position is a full-time (100%) employment until 2027-01-31. Starting date by agreement. Location: Uppsala, Sweden.
