The Department of Global Public Health is an interdisciplinary department whose aim is to deepen the understanding of how public health can be improved at local, national and global levels. Many of the department's researchers act as scientific advisers to public authorities and other decision-makers at regional, national and international levels. The department is responsible for three international master's programmes, and the researchers are actively involved in teaching at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. The department has 12 research groups, around 115 doctoral students and approximately 140 staff members.

The position is based in the Epidemiology and Public Health Intervention Research (EPHIR) research group. In our research group, you will have the opportunity to conduct research in interdisciplinary teams with colleagues in the fields of epidemiology and intervention research. Close collaboration with researchers in other research groups at the department is part of the role.

Your Mission

We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented research assistant to work in the field of injury epidemiology, with a particular focus on statistical analysis and scientific publication. The role involves working on several research projects aimed at improving our understanding of risk factors for injuries in the population, with a particular focus on road traffic injuries and older people. This is a full-time position for a period of approximately one year.

The role involves:

• Conducting analyses of large population-based datasets, including database management, statistical analyses and summaries of results.
• Contributing to scientific writing, including literature reviews, drafting of text, summaries of results and preparation of material for publications and conference presentations.
• Contributing to the design of studies and choice of methodology and being responsible for analytical plans and protocols.
• Contributing to quality assurance of data, documentation and reproducible code.
• Collaborating with project teams and contributing to the continuous development of projects.

Your Profile

You must have:

• A degree (at least at bachelor's level) in epidemiology, public health, medicine or a related field.
• Documented experience of statistical analysis in SAS, Stata or R.
• Good ability to write scientific texts in English.
• Experience of working with register data or other large datasets.
• Excellent knowledge in spoken and written English.

Meritorious:

• Good understanding of research question, terminology and methods within injury epidemiology.
• Knowledge of Swedish health data registers.
• Documented experience of advanced epidemiological methods (e.g. self-controlled designs, prediction modelling, machine learning).
• Experience in conducting systematic literature review and meta-analysis.
• Previous co-authorship of scientific articles.

We are looking for someone who is organized, proactive and enjoys working both independently and as part of a team. You have a strong sense of responsibility, a genuine interest in research and a desire to develop your skills in epidemiological methods and scientific writing. You should also have very good analytical skills and be detail-oriented. You will be expected to take personal responsibility and drive your own learning. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background in medicine or public health.
