This post is for a full-time Research Assistant in the laboratory of Professor Steve Jackson based in the internationally renowned Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute, located on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, Cambridge, UK.
The postholder will work alongside experienced postdoctoral research associates to assist with several on-going projects in the lab, exploring the cellular mechanisms of DNA-damage responses and investigating how sensitivity and resistance arise in different cancer cells with different genetic backgrounds when exposed to radioligand treatments and combination therapies involving clinically relevant drugs.
The postholder will assist with high-throughput CRISPR-Cas9 screens to explore sensitivity/resistance mechanisms in defined genetic backgrounds, followed by validation and ensuing mechanistic studies. Experience in CRISPR genome editing and/or CRISPR genetic screens is desirable, as well as a strong background in cell and molecular biology techniques, tissue culture, and stable cell line generation.
The research assistant will be required to take on other responsibilities, including preparation of reagents, maintenance of lab stocks and assisting in the day-to-day running of the laboratory.
The successful candidate should show initiative and independent thinking, possess excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently and as a part of a vibrant and diverse team.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 2 years in the first instance.
Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a security check.
