Our group has a long-standing interest in immunology and mucosal immunology. We have contributed to the elucidation of ER stress and autophagy mechanisms in the intestinal epithelium. Departing from human genetics, we also discovered an unprecedented, evolutionary conserved core enzyme (FAMIN) of energy metabolism that prevents inflammation and autoimmunity. Genetic loss of function causes monogenic Still's disease (a childhood fever syndrome with arthritis) and Crohn's disease (an inflammatory bowel disease), and a common hypomorphic variant predisposes for Crohn's disease and leprosy (a chronic infection). We search for an enthusiastic, talented cellular and molecular immunologist, who shares our passion for discovery and who is looking for an exciting challenge within our highly multidisciplinary group. Experience with in vivo experimentation and a personal license are essential for the role. Interest in metabolism and a broad skill set in molecular biology would be desirable.
Our lab is located in the new Cambridge Institute of Therapeutic Immunology and Infectious Disease (CITIID) for more info, see https://www.citiid.cam.ac.uk and http://www.med.cam.ac.uk/kaser/.
