The Michael Smith Laboratories at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, invites applications for a Research Associate position in Mammalian Regeneration to work under the supervision of Dr. Freda Miller. The successful candidate will work on a project defining molecular mechanisms that regulate mammalian digit tip regeneration.
Project: The digit tip is one of the few privileged mammalian tissues that undergo multi-tissue regeneration following injury. For this project, the Research Associate will work with other researchers in the Miller laboratory to define the cellular and molecular mechanisms that confer this unique privileged status upon the digit tip. The Research Associate will use single cell spatial transcriptomics, genetic mouse models, and cutting-edge imaging technologies to pursue this work.
Candidate: We are looking for a molecular cell biologist who has a Ph.D. in the field of regeneration biology, and postdoctoral experience with single cell spatial transcriptomics and genetic mouse models as applied to mammalian tissue regeneration. The candidate must be able to work well on a team.
Opportunity: The University of British Columbia is located in Vancouver, which is world-renowned for its scenery and quality of living. UBC is a center of excellence in the field of stem cells and regenerative biology.
The expected pay range for this position is $76,128 per annum. The initial appointment will be for one year commencing June 25, 2026 with a possibility for extension, subject to satisfactory performance and funding.
Application Process: Interested applicants should submit a CV and cover letter that details their experience and contact details for 3 references to the UBC Careers portal at the UBC Career Portal. Application materials should be submitted no later than the posting end date.
