Lee Kong Chian School Of Medicine Research Scientist

The Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine) trains doctors who put patients at the centre of their exemplary care. The School, which offers both undergraduate and graduate programmes, is named after local philanthropist Tan Sri Dato Lee Kong Chian. Established in 2010 by Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, in partnership with Imperial College London, LKCMedicine aims to be a model for innovative medical education and a centre for transformative research.

Professor Lim Kah Leong is a renowned scientist in the areas of neuroscience and mental health, particularly in the field of Parkinson's Disease. With a long-term goal to elucidate the molecular events underlying Parkinson's Disease and to effectively treat the disease, his research centres on mechanisms underlying neurodegeneration, which will reveal targets for neuroprotection. He is also developing new research technologies in the area of stem cells and neurorestoration as well as in diagnostics and neurotechnology, where he collaborates extensively with chemists, materials scientists and engineers. His laboratory uses a broad range of disease models including Drosophila, rodents, human neurons and brain organoids generated from patient-derived induced pluripotent stem cells and non-human primates (marmosets).

Key Responsibilities:

• Grants management which includes virements, progress reports, budget, ethics, patents, assisting PI with new grant proposals etc
• Procurement of lab reagents and budget management of expenses across grants.
• Coordination and management of all lab ethics documents eg IACUC, IRB, MOH TIARAS for rHBR studies which includes amendments, extensions, annual reviews/progress report, regular updating of animal numbers on ERMP, preparing new ethics documents and etc.
• Scheduling of weekly lab meetings and monthly journal updates
• Managing and organizing of lab events
• Any other lab administration required by PI.

Key Competencies and Requirements:

• Master's degree
• At least 10 years of relevant experiences in similar role / technical hands-on experience in specific scope
• Familiarity with required scope (e.g. national codes and standards)
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Proficiency in hard skills / job-specific abilities acquired through training e.g. specific programming languages, numeric and analytical skill
• Competent in soft skills / general personality traits e.g. information visualization, interaction design
• Interpersonal skill (e.g. Ability to work independently / develop solutions under strict timelines, meticulous and eye for details / excellent organizational / time management skills)
