Research Associate (Semiconductor/Materials/Electrical Engineering) Full-time

Temasek Laboratories@NTU explores the frontiers in science and develops strategic technologies to enhance the defence and security of Singapore. TL@NTU forms part of the defence technology community in Singapore alongside DSO National Laboratories, Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA), Temasek Laboratories @ NUS and @SUTD and the local defence industry.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operate CVD and high-vacuum systems for semiconductor growth.
2. Develop and optimise growth processes based on experimental and characterisation results.
3. Perform wafer characterisation using optical microscopy, AFM, C–V, Hall and XRD.
4. Plan, execute and troubleshoot experiments and equipment issues.
5. Perform and oversee routine and preventive maintenance of laboratory tools.
6. Manage laboratory procurement, vendors and consumables.
7. Ensure compliance with safety regulations, SOPs and institutional requirements.
8. Prepare technical reports and contribute to proposals and publications.
9. Provide technical guidance to research assistants and junior staff.

Job Requirements:

• Master's degree or bachelor's degree with relevant research or industry experience in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a closely related discipline
• Demonstrated hands-on experience (typically 1 – 3 years) in semiconductor research, epitaxial growth, or advanced materials processing.
• Proven ability to independently operate, troubleshoot, and optimise CVD-based systems such as MOCVD or MBE is advantageous
• Experience with advanced material and electrical characterisation tools, including AFM, XRD, C–V, and Hall measurements.
• Ability to plan and execute experiments with minimal supervision, interpret results, and implement process improvements.
• Experience in laboratory safety compliance, SOP implementation, and safe handling of hazardous materials and gases.
• Strong technical documentation skills, including preparation of detailed reports, experimental summaries, and project deliverables.
