This is an opportunity to work with a world class University that undertakes cutting edge research and has a strong tradition in research-led teaching excellence.
The National Centre for Indigenous Genomics (NCIG) is a leader in creating reference genomic resources that advance knowledge and healthcare utility of genomics for Indigenous Australians. Towards that, we are generating telomere-2-telomere reference genomes and population-scale variation catalogues in partnerships with multiple Indigenous Australian communities.
We are conducting research into Indigenous Pharmacogenomics funded by an MRFF grant. Your work will be dedicated to developing genomics, molecular and cellular assays to generate evidence for the effect of genetic variation in regulations of pharmacogenes. Your experiments will be informed by and results will feed into the bioinformatic platforms. This will enable predictive information generation using Indigenous genomes to commonly prescribed pharmaceuticals.
As a Research Fellow focusing on pharmacogenomic, cellular and molecular research, you will conduct discovery research, develop protocols, perform experiments and data analyses, and develop suitable model systems for empirical evaluations and benchmarking experiments. Through your contributions, you will enhance the utility and impact of NCIG genomic resources for the benefit of Indigenous Australians.
We are seeking exceptional candidates with a track record of high-impact research in genomics, molecular, cellular and quantitative biology. You will have exceptional technical skills and be familiar with mass spectrometry, RNAseq, cell culture and associated assays, computational technologies, to perform required experiments to deliver against the objectives of MRFF grants.
If you are passionate about using your expertise to improve Indigenous health outcomes in active partnerships with Indigenous communities, we invite you to apply for this challenging and rewarding position at NCIG. Join us in making a real impact on Indigenous health by pushing the boundaries of genomics research.
