This is an exciting opportunity to join Professor Murdan's research group. You will work in a collaborative team who are developing and evaluating innovative vaccine and drug formulations.
The main purpose of this position is to conduct research on several vaccine formulation projects. The position will address the development of vaccine formulations as well as alternatives to injectable vaccines such as sublingual vaccines. A number of vaccine preparations will be developed and evaluated for their pharmaceutical and immunological properties, via in vitro and in vivo experiments. The researcher will be based at UCL School of Pharmacy, which has excellent research facilities needed for the project.
The post holder will have a PhD in a relevant field and laboratory skills in formulation development and characterisation. The post holder will be responsible for undertaking original experimental research, liaising with team members and collaborators, reporting on project progress and preparing and submitting reports and research papers arising from these and related studies. There will be a high degree of interaction with UCL colleagues and industrial partners so excellent team-work and communication skills will be required.
This is an open ended contract with a funding end date of 30 April 2027 in the first instance. Research Fellows – Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at Grade 6B (salary £38,357 – £41,005 per annum) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD Thesis.
You will have a PhD and experience in pharmaceutical, biomedical or other relevant sciences. You will develop vaccine formulations for administration by injection and mucosal routes and assess them through a range of in vitro and preclinical in vivo studies. You will liaise with internal and external collaborators to ensure smooth project delivery, prepare reports and manuscripts for publication and supervise and mentor team members.
You must have a PhD in pharmaceutical, biomedical or other relevant sciences. Experience in pharmaceutical, biomedical or other relevant sciences is also essential.
