We are seeking a collaborative and self-motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to work on the development of pharmacological modulators of PI3K, including small molecule PI3K pathway activators.
Prof Bart Vanhaesebroeck is Professor of Cell Signalling at the UCL Cancer Institute. The work of the Cell Signalling Group is focused on the PI3K/PTEN signalling axis and its involvement in the development and maintenance of cancer, covering basic and translational studies.
The successful applicant for this Post-doctoral Research Fellow position will be based within the Cell Signalling group in the Department of Oncology at the UCL Cancer Institute. The post is funded for 12 months in the first instance with a start date of 01 June 2026. Interviews will be held in April 2026 (date to be confirmed). Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at Research Assistant Grade 6B, with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis. The successful applicant must have a PhD, with relevant laboratory experience, excellent knowledge of signalling in cancer, particularly in the field of kinases and hormones, and experience in facilitating collaboration between academic and commercial partners. Commitment to fostering a positive work/teaching/learning environment, commitment to high-quality biomedical research, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team are essential. Successful candidates must have good record-keeping and organizational skills and be able to plan effectively so that work is delivered and others are not delayed. Being practical and able to problem-solve and being able to respond constructively also essential for the role.
