UCL's Institute of Cardiovascular Science is based at Torrington Place, London. Our overall mission is to improve the lives, health and wellbeing through world-class patient centred research, education and public engagement. As a world-class centre of excellence, UCL ICS is focussed on developing novel preventative and therapeutic strategies in cardiovascular medicine. This involves using novel deep phenotyping techniques to identify children and adolescents at increased risk of sudden cardiac death. Studies will focus on the effects of mental stress and also neuromodulation devices -primarily Tragus nerve stimulation which is being used to treat heart rhythm disorders and heart failure.
We are recruiting a postdoc biomedical engineer to contribute to the development of combined heart-brain studies in experiments involving ECG Imaging (ECGI) and functional MRI studies of the brain. Experiments will be conducted in human subjects involving mental stress and tragus nerve stimulation.
The postdoctoral engineer will have experience in signals processing ideally with ECG signals and MRI data. We have an ECG data analysis pipeline to utilize inverse solution mathematics to resolve conduction and repolarization metrics on the surface of the heart and examine the effects specific conditions on these metrics. The post will primarily involve experimental data analysis, but optimsation of data collection and protocol design will be required as well as some practical assistance during the ECGI and MRI experiments. Experiments will primarily take place in the Phenotyping Centre at Chenies Mews, UCL
