The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Monash University is seeking a Research Fellow with strong expertise in solid mechanics modelling and machine learning to join and lead a dynamic international team of early-career researchers.
This exciting role is part of a cutting-edge project investigating the structural integrity of metallic alloys—including ferritic and austenitic steels, as well as nickel alloys—used in extreme environments.
Key Focus Areas:
You will assess fatigue, fracture, and creep behaviour of components in their as-manufactured state using industry-standard non-destructive testing (e.g. ultrasonic testing). You will also develop microstructure-informed modelling to evaluate in-service performance throughout a component's lifecycle.
What We're Looking For:
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to an internationally recognised research program and shape the future of materials modelling and mechanical engineering. You'll be part of a supportive, high-impact environment that values innovation, collaboration, and real-world outcomes.

Your employment is contingent upon the satisfactory completion of all pre-employment and/or background checks required for the role, as determined by the University.
