Research Fellow In Nonlinear Estimation

You will have the opportunity to advance the theoretical foundations of observer design for nonlinear systems, focusing on performance, robustness, and trade-offs. You'll engage in interdisciplinary collaborations, applying your expertise to multi-agent robotic systems and Li-ion batteries. This role offers you the chance to conduct independent research, publish in leading journals, and collaborate with international teams, enhancing your career in control theory and signal processing.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Conduct Independent Research: Plan and execute research projects, publish findings, and contribute to academic seminars and conferences.
• Foster Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work with teams across the University of Melbourne and France to integrate control theory, signal processing, and mathematics.
• Engage and Communicate: Participate in outreach activities, liaise with external networks, and present research at various forums.
• Mentor and Lead: Supervise graduate students and identify funding opportunities for research initiatives.

You may be a great fit if:

You will be an innovative researcher with a PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, adept at designing estimation and control algorithms for nonlinear systems, and capable of leading interdisciplinary collaborations.

You may also:

• Have expertise in hybrid systems, multi-agent systems, and singular perturbation methods.
• Possess excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Demonstrate strong initiative and the ability to work independently, prioritising tasks effectively.
• Be skilled in engaging with diverse stakeholders and fostering collaborative partnerships.
• Be committed to contributing to the academic community through seminars and workshops.

The School of Electrical, Mechanical and Infrastructure Engineering (EMI) undertakes teaching and research across a range of disciplines that are internationally recognised for their contribution to fundamental research.
