The UCL Centre for Amyloidosis, Department of Inflammation and Rare Disease, Royal Free Campus. The RA/LM will have several roles within the Centre for Amyloidosis (CfA) acting as lab manager and conducting basic science research in the CfA research laboratory. Work within the Centre for Amyloidosis aims to translate advances in understanding of amyloid pathogenesis into improved diagnosis and therapy for patients.
The post-holder will be responsible for core functions within the Centre including organisation, management and safe running of the CfA Laboratory. The post-holder will undertake research projects including independent development and validation of histological and immunohistochemical staining techniques, image analysis for quantitation of histological data, collation, analysis and reporting of results. The post-holder will be a member of an active centre, involved in front-line research and is expected to become an important member of the team. They will be responsible for providing technical and research supervision/assistance, training, induction and guidance to new students and members of staff in the laboratory and their instruction in a wide range of laboratory methods. The position is available immediately. Funding for this post is available until December 2027 in the first instance. This role is eligible for UCL sponsorship. The successful applicant should have a PhD or equivalent in Biochemistry / Biomedical Sciences or a related subject and have extensive experience of working in a research lab. They must be highly organised, able to manage time and work to strict deadlines. Expertise in histological techniques, a high level of attention to detail, and proven commitment to scientific excellence are essential. The post-holder must be able to deal pleasantly & effectively with a wide range of people and keep accurate and detailed written laboratory records.
