This job is based at the EPPI Centre (Evidence for Policy and Practice Information and Coordinating Centre). You will work in the NIHR-funded Evidence Synthesis Group at the EPPI Centre. In 2023, NIHR launched a new initiative that funds nine 'Evidence Synthesis Groups' (ESG) across the UK. They undertake evidence syntheses across a range of priority areas to inform policy and practice. The ESG based at UCL is called LACES: the London Alliance for the Co-Production of Evidence Synthesis.
LACES launched in April 2023. It is a collaboration between three groups: UCL's EPPI Centre, Co-Production Collective at UCL, and health economists from UCL's Research Department of Primary Care and Population Health. It is led by Professor James Thomas and Professor Alison O'Mara-Eves at the EPPI Centre.
You will be responsible for undertaking evidence synthesis related to health and social care. You will work closely with the Investigators and will be part of a broader team with substantial expertise in evidence synthesis and studying and understanding patterns of evidence. This is a fixed-term maternity leave cover with anticipated start of 1 April 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter to 19 July 2026 in the first instance.
You will undertake duties to support the production of evidence syntheses including screening records, undertaking quality assessment of studies, data extraction, and synthesis; and contributing to methodological development including evaluations of new AI technologies and tools. Use systematic reviewing software (training will be provided) and work with colleagues to help produce evidence syntheses. Contribute to the design of research and evaluation instruments if required. Your application form should address all person specification points and clearly demonstrate how your skills and experience meet each of the criteria. It is important that the criteria are clearly numbered and that you provide a response to each one.
