Research Fellow

The School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (CCEB) invites applications for the position of Research Fellow.

The Research Fellow will take on a significant role in Asst Prof QIAO YUAN's lab to perform complex carbohydrate synthesis and bioactivity evaluations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for chemical synthesis and characterization of complex carbohydrates and analogues
• Responsible for developing LC-MS method for structural elucidations of natural carbohydrates
• Perform chemical biology assays to evaluate the bioactivity of natural and synthetic carbohydrates

Job Requirements:

• A recent PhD graduate with expertise in organic chemistry, natural product synthesis, chemical biology or related field.
• Must have research experience with multi-step synthesis with good techniques to handle air- and moisture-sensitive reactions. Prior experience in natural product synthesis, carbohydrate/peptidomimetic synthesis are preferred.
• Demonstrate strong publication track-record, as evidenced by at least first-author publication in high quality journals.
• Must have strong organizational, critical thinking, interpersonal skills.
• Must be highly-motivated and independent and be able to supervise students
