Research Scientist

The Alibaba-NTU Global e-Sustainability CorpLab (ANGEL) represents a key collaboration between Alibaba Group and Nanyang Technological University (NTU). Supported by the Singapore RIE2025 Fund, ANGEL creates and deploys impactful green digital technologies for global sustainability.

ANGEL's work in developing sustainable and equitable digital solutions and promoting a sustainable and green lifestyle will contribute to a smaller carbon footprint. ANGEL is looking for a motivated Research Scientist to conduct cutting-edge research in the topic of “Green Cloud Computing”, who will lead groundbreaking research in enhancing the design, operation, and optimization of data centers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement digital twins and optimization algorithms for integrated source-grid-load-storage systems based on programming tools, such as Python, C/C++;
• Conduct research on integrated energy system optimizations, including computing-electric and computing-cooling coordinated optimizations;
• Supervise junior graduate students;
• Write technical reports, including papers, patents and technical disclosures;
• Work closely with team members/engineers and assist in developing new features;
• Ensure responsiveness of applications;
• Support expansion of research output through increased paper publication;
• Diagnose the issue and resolving it on demand.

Job Requirements:

• PhD Degree in Electrical Engineering, Information System, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related discipline;
• Industrial work experience in relevant areas highly preferred;
• Proven ability to translate theoretical insights into practical solutions;
• Proficiency in Python and relevant packages, like NumPy, Pandas, PyTorch or Tensorflow;
• Excellent verbal communication skills and good problem solving skills;
• Strong attention to detail
