The Vindigni laboratory studies DNA replication and repair, and the roles of these pathways on cancer initiation, progression and response to chemotherapy and immunotherapy. We offer a unique environment that combines biochemical, cellular, and structural approaches, making it an ideal setting for training staff and students interested in exploring the mechanisms that maintain genome integrity. We are among the few labs worldwide that integrate cellular and electron microscopy techniques to investigate changes in replication fork dynamics at the single-molecule resolution. The ideal candidate should be highly motivated and interested in learning cutting-edge techniques to study the impact of DNA damaging chemotherapy on genome stability and DNA replication fork progression. Work in the lab includes culturing human cancer cell lines and learning techniques to monitor DNA damage and cell viability. Position assists with the technical aspects of these studies and experiments including documentation and preparation of materials for electron microscopy experiments.
