The Laboratory of Nanomaterials and Advanced Ceramics (NaCA) at the São Carlos Institute of Physics (IFSC), University of São Paulo (USP), Brazil, is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join its research team. The selected candidate will work on a research project focused on the development of BiVO4-based semiconductor photoanodes for application in photoelectrochemical water-splitting systems aimed at the sustainable production of green hydrogen. The project includes the synthesis and deposition of thin films by magnetron sputtering, combined with complementary chemical routes, as well as advanced surface engineering strategies, including controlled doping, grain boundary engineering, and the formation of semiconductor heterojunctions. These approaches aim to optimize charge transport, suppress electronic recombination processes, and enhance the photoelectrochemical efficiency and stability of the developed materials. The structural, morphological, optical, and electronic characterization of the photoanodes will be performed using advanced techniques such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Raman spectroscopy, UV–Vis spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). In addition, photoelectrochemical performance will be evaluated in three-electrode electrochemical cells, including systematic studies of long-term chemical and operational stability.
