We are searching for the best talent for a Scientist, Biologics Analytical Development to be located in Malvern, PA. Within J&J Research & Development, the Therapeutics Development & Supply (TDS) organization is responsible for the development, clinical supply, marketed product support, and life cycle management of Biotherapeutics. Within TDS, the Analytical Development (AD) Biologics group supports method development and validation, process and formulation development, release, and stability via automated workflows.

We are hiring an experienced Scientist to support the Process Analytical Sciences Central Automation Lab (PASCAL) team in Therapeutics Development and Supply – Analytical Development (TDS-AD). The role includes operation, orchestration, and troubleshooting of automated Workcells to support non-GMP testing for process and formulation development across cell, gene, and protein therapeutics. This role will be responsible for multiple Workcells to support Storage & Waste.

You will be responsible for:

• Collaborating within a cross-functional team to deploy end-to-end automation solutions for various analytical methods and technologies.
• Operating Workcells using control software such as Biosero Green Button Go®, perform level 1 troubleshooting, and escalate issues as necessary.
• Overseeing contractors and supporting testing, data analysis and review as needed per appropriate test methods and procedures.
• Performing inventory assessment/reconciliation and establishing automated waste streams for various workflows.
• Establishing a process for reagent registration and management.
• Authoring documentation for Workcell process flows (Methods, Work Instructions, and/or SOPs).
• Ensuring Workcell equipment is routinely maintained for optimal operations.
• Engaging in a dynamic team environment.
• Exhibiting strong organizational skills combined with great attention to detail.

Qualifications / Requirements:

Education:

• A minimum of a Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of experience is required. An advanced degree (Master's) in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry or a related field with 2+ years of experience is preferred.

Experience and Skills:

Required:

• Experience with automated equipment and software (e.g. Hamilton Verso, Azenta Biostore, HighRes Ambistore, Askion LN2) is required.
• Experience with execution of analytical methods is required.
• Experience with chamber management is required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote) is required.
• Excellent interpersonal skills (written and oral) and the ability to work in a cross-functional customer-focused environment is required.
• Ability to creatively solve technical problems while meeting accelerated project timelines is required.
• Capability of working in a cross-functional team environment with a positive attitude is required.

Preferred:

• Knowledge and working experience on proteins or therapeutic cell and gene therapy projects is preferred.
• Experience with writing SOPs and methods is preferred.
• Experience with BIOVIA and CISPro is preferred.
• Experience in troubleshooting equipment and routine instrument maintenance is preferred.

Other:

• This position will support a schedule of 12:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
