The Bioanalytical Discovery and Development Sciences (BDDS) organization develops, validates, and conducts bioanalytical sample analysis across the entire J&J Innovative Medicines (JJIM) R&D portfolio from discovery through development. We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated automation scientist to design and perform all type of bioanalytical assays within BDDS for Johnson & Johnson discovery projects spanning all modalities and therapeutic areas. This laboratory-based position offers the opportunity to lead the development and implementation of innovative analytical methods using chromatographic techniques and mass spectrometry. Job Description:

1. Develop and qualify advanced analytical methods for the quantification of drugs and biomarkers (small and large molecules) in different types of complex (biological) matrices according to company standards.
2. Explore and implement automation and software related solutions to increase workflows efficiency.
3. Perform routine analysis through hands-on data generation with the right level of quality and use advanced software tools for data analysis.
4. Evaluate current bioanalytical methods and processes and critically perform optimization when needed.
5. Maintenance and troubleshooting of lab instrumentation.
6. Work in a discovery fast-paced environment under limited supervision with a high level of autonomy.

Qualifications:

• A degree in analytical chemistry or related discipline with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
• Proven expertise in mass spectrometry including technologies such as Triple Quadrupole and High-Resolution MS, is essential for this role.
• Experience in different types of sample preparation techniques (SPE, LLE, IMC…) and working in a quality environment.
• Proficiency with Mass Spectrometry and other data analysis software (e.g. Excel, Prism, SciexOS, Analyst…). Strong data science skills, such as Excel macros and programming (Phyton, Java…) and statistical analysis is required.
• Experience in building automated pipelines using robotic devices is required.
• Ability to work on several projects and assignments at the same time, with appropriate prioritization.
• Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken.
• Strong motivation to quickly learn new skills, grow and adapt to challenges of the job.
