The Neuropsychiatry Discovery department at Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is recruiting for a Scientist, Neuropsychiatry, located in San Diego, CA, USA.

We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative researcher, who will actively engage and contribute to discovery efforts to support the Johnson & Johnson Neuropsychiatry strategy. This individual will be responsible for advancing research initiatives and support pipeline programs by applying their expertise and experience. This position presents a unique opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research and drug development to improve outcomes for patients suffering from psychiatric diseases.

Key Responsibilities:

• Designs, performs and interprets biochemical, cellular and molecular biology experiments, and creatively develops and troubleshoots experimental protocols.
• Independently reworks experiments and/or analyses based on interpretations and integration of emerging literature
• Prepares and records experimental reports that include detailed methods and materials, raw data, data analyses and graphs, and conclusions in an electronic laboratory notebook.
• Follows laboratory safety and data integrity guidelines.
• Presents experimental results during group and project team meetings.
• Collaborates effectively with cross-department team members to deliver on goals and objectives, and mentors more junior colleagues in techniques, processes, and responsibilities.

Qualifications-Education:

Master's degree with 4+ years of experience OR a Bachelor's degree with 6+ years of experience in Biochemistry, Neuroscience, Molecular Biology or a similar field is required.

• Solid understanding and broad experience with molecular and cellular biology techniques, cell culture and functional assay development.

• Problem solving skills, with the ability to identify and address challenges proactively.
• Good project management skills and able to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred:

• Expertise in Neuroscience, especially in Neuropsychiatry.
• Knowledge of drug development and pharmacology principles.
• Experience with in vitro modeling of brain disorders.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is: $89,000 – $143,750
